Twitterpated

Why do you think they named Twitter "Twitter"? I think of Bambi and the adorable spring scene where all the animals are falling in love. I know it has absolutely nothing to do with this website, but at least it brings a happy image. If we go past that reference, however, I'm still debating about how much I actually like Twitter. I kind of see it as an IM away message on your blog (but if you don't put it on your blog, then it's an away message that you have to go to another website to see). It's funny how we feel the need to let everyone, even those people we don't speak to on a regular basis, know what we are doing at any given moment. Where's the mystery? Where's the privacy? Lost, in a sea of our own self-worth. But don't be fooled. I update Twitter at least once a day. ;-)

And now for the sad news. It's taken me a few days to be able to admit this to myself and now admit it to the blogosphere, but I have quit NaNoWriMo. No, wait, I don't like the word quit. I have decided to go another direction, that direction being away from writing furiously every day and more toward the laidback pace of a recent college grad. While I still hope to finish my novel, I don't plan on finishing it in the next two days. I'm disappointed in myself, but there's still hope that I'll finish it eventually. Apparently I just can't commit or focus on a single thing for one whole month. What can I say? I get bored.

But the good news is that I am moving up in the holds line for New Moon, the sequel to Twilight, and I am also in the midst of a very good book that I hope to be writing a review about sometime next week. My next task for 2.0 is MySpace, which I have been looking forward to and dreading all at the same time (my loyalty is to Facebook, but I suppose I can give MySpace a chance). Till next time!

  1. I like twitter because I can see what my friends and peers are up to, the payback is I have to twitter what I'm doing. It's a push pull thing.

  2. I do like Twitter (as it turns out, when I remember to use it), I just wish I knew more people who used it!
