Ready, Set, Read-a-Thon!

And I'm off! I'll be updating this post throughout the day, so check back here (scroll down), and on Twitter, for updates! Don't know what I'm doing today? Check out my post or the official blog!

Let's start with the introduction meme!

1. I'm reading from Indiana, where right now the sun is starting to rise on what looks to be a very pretty day.
2. Three random facts...a) I played volleyball in college. b) I'm 7 months pregnant. c) This is my first Read-a-thon!
3. I have 32 books in my TBR pile for today. I have no intention to complete more than one of them. But I do like variety!
4. No goals today, just want to have fun!
5. I think I've ignored all advice from veterans (not on purpose!) so I'll probably be regretting it in a few hours, but since I have no real goals for the day, it shouldn't matter too much. :-)

8:00 a.m. - Hour 1
Definitely in need of breakfast! I'm starting with The Raising by Laura Kasischke, which, according to Goodreads, I am 53% through.

9:19 a.m. - Hour 2
Time to take Lizzie for a walk, so I'll be switching it up and listening to Born to Run by Christopher McDougall for awhile!

Books finished: 0
Total pages read: 44
Total reading time: 1 hour

10:44 a.m. - Hour 3
I think it's time to curl up on the couch for a bit. Back to The Raising!

Total pages read: 44
Total audio book listening time: 1 hour
Total miles walked: 3
Total reading time: 2 hours
Contemplating: brunch

12:20 p.m. - Hour 5
Taking a break to run a couple errands with my husband. I may or may not try to read in the car; The Raising is getting really good!

Total pages read: 82
Total audio book time: 1 hour
Total reading time: about 3.5 hours

2:00 p.m. - Hour 7
Errands are done and I'm ready to get back into it with some Arby's and a vanilla shake by my side!

5:00 p.m. - Hour 10
After 3 straight hours of reading, I need a break. I only have about 14 pages left in The Raising, but it's the final part and will wrap up the whole mystery, and I feel like now's a good time to digest what I've read so far before what I'm sure will be a thrilling conclusion. I haven't even wanted to touch another book, this one's been so enthralling! This break might be long, but I'm hoping to use the time to catch up with some other bloggers and cheer them on!

Total pages read: 186
Total audio book time: 1 hour
Total reading time: 7 hours 29 minutes

7:35 p.m. - Hour 12
I finished The Raising (so good!) so now I'm going to try to think of a good snack and then decide on book number 2. I have so many to choose from (as you can see from yesterday's post) and I'm starting to hit a wall, so I might start a few and see which one really captures my attention. Food doesn't really sound good, what with the heartburn and some general queasiness, but I haven't had dinner yet and I'm pretty tired, so some edible energy would be a good thing right about now.

Total books read: 1 (yay!)
Total pages read: 200
Total audio book time: 1 hour
Total reading time: 7 hours 52 minutes

9:20 p.m. - Hour 14
Guys, I need a massage. I always need a massage these days, but I have been sitting on the couch for far too long. I'm going to take a bit of a break and hopefully come back to some more reading, but if I'm being completely honest, I think I'm going to hit my read-a-thon limit very soon.

Total books read: 1
Currently reading: Love at First Bark by Julie Klam
Total pages read: 278
Total audio book time: 1 hour
Total reading time: 9 hours

11:14 p.m. - Hour 16
I'm calling this one. I'm way too tired to actually concentrate on a book, so while I'll still probably be up for a bit, I'm done reading for the night. Thank you all for the encouragement via the comments and Twitter! This was my first read-a-thon and I had a blast! Here are my stats:

Total books read: 1
Total pages read: 278
Total audio book time: 1 hour 32 minutes
Total reading time: 10 hours 32 minutes
Total miles walked: 4.25

  6. I also read The Raising pretty recently and absolutely loved it. The whole book is very eerie and I could barely put it down until I had finished it! Glad you liked it. :) Happy reading!
