I Need Coffee

8:00 am is no longer early. Scary, isn't it? I'm so used to getting up at 5:45 that Sunday, when Lizzie decided 5:47 was a good time to throw up, I cleaned it and then was up for the day. Granted, a nap wouldn't have been turned down, but when would it be? This morning when I had to drop Lizzie off at the vet at 7:30 I was thinking, "Oo, I get to sleep in!" And, speaking of the vet, I didn't realize I could bring her bone with her so she'd have something while she was stuck there all day. Now I feel like a bad mom because all I left her with was a little baggy of food. :-(

Finally, after months of searching, I have obtained a used treadmill. Woohoo! It's a pretty nice one, and I got a really good deal on it through Craigslist. Not that it didn't take a lot of effort and a bit of rushing at the end, plus an extra five bucks once I realized I would need the seller to drive it over to my house in his truck because my car just wasn't going to work. But it's totally worth it. Now, I do intend to use it, but mainly I wanted it for Lizzie. "For a dog?!" you say? Oh yes. You'll all think I'm a genius when it's -10 outside and I don't have to walk my dog. So anyway, Lizzie has been a doll with the treadmill. She's learning really quickly and she's not afraid of it, probably because it's not as loud as the vacuum cleaner. Last night we got her to walk on it a little bit while it was moving - it involved Keith holding her leash to keep her from jumping off while I constantly fed her treats to keep her focused on moving forward. It's definitely going to take a lot more work (and treats!) before she's ready to jump on by herself (or even willingly walk with us on it), but I'm so excited that she's come this far this fast!

  1. I can't wait to see the video of the dog walking/running on the treadmill! An entry for Funniest Animal Videos? :-)

  2. That is very smart indeed! What a way to keep the dog in shape:) I must say I love the fact that you post frequently. And don't worry about the dog bone issue, tomorrow she won't even remember.

  3. Sarah, I saw your post from yesterday and was like, oh thank goodness I posted! :-)

Lizzie seems to not have minded not having a bone - or maybe she was just really happy to see me. :-)

More work on the treadmill tonight!
