Welcome, March!

Life has been interesting!  Keith and I went up to look at houses again this past weekend.  We didn't find anything that we're seriously looking at, but we did find additional houses to look at the next time we make a trip up (and possibly another trip after that).  So much to do, and so little time!  Match Day is 18 days away!  Time just feels like it's dragging right now, but as soon as Match Day hits, we'll be able to start moving forward at a very rapid pace.

I finally made an eye doctor appointment, which I've been needing to do for probably the past year.  Why do I always put these things off until the last minute?  Somehow I get it into my head that it's going to be a huge hassle, when really it's nothing more than a 5 minute phone call.

And, for those of you here more for the books than the update on my life, I present to you: It's Monday! What are you reading?

Last week I finished Mrs. Kaputnik's Pool Hall and Matzo Ball Emporium (click on the title for the review).

I'm a little over halfway through The Book Thief (and loving it, by the way; all you commenters were right!).

My hold for Cleopatra's Daughter came in, so I picked that up at the library yesterday.

Also while I was there I checked out their withdrawn books that are now for sale and actually found a couple that had been on my TBR list for awhile now!  Two books for $4?  How could I say no?  I am now the proud owner of American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld and Labor Day by Joyce Maynard.

Plus, I still have The Time Machine to work on, and I'm gradually getting through Mansfield Park on audiobook.

That's all for now.  What are you reading?

  1. I actually enjoyed American Wife, a little long but it was good. I didn't care for Labor day... I couldn't get other a major element in the book.

Don't let me scare you away though!

    Have a great week!

PS: Here's my review Labor day (if you are interested)

  6. I'm reading "This Immortal" by Roger Zelazny. It's a sci-fi novel written in the 60's. In a post-nuclear world there are people with many different mutations. The narrator is immortal, and the book deals with several months in his life during which he is a "tour guide" for a Vegan (from Vega, not someone who doesn't eat meat products) who is writing a book and has an assassin after him. I hope to finish it tonight. It is not holding my interest at all and soon will be culled from my library. Then I plan to read "Bees and Mist" and "The Help."
