Jane Eyre Read-Along Starts Today!

Hello, friends! I'm very excited because today is the day I start one of my goals for 2011: to read some of the classics that I have been putting off.  The first classic is, by popular vote, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë.

I'm so excited that some of you are joining me.  It will not only hold me accountable, but make the experience that much more enjoyable.

As this is my first read-along, and since I've never even participated in a read-along before, this is not going to be very fancy.  I don't have a web badge or prizes or even a Mr. Linky set up (although maybe I should look into that).  My goal is to simply read a classic piece of literature that I've been neglecting and then discuss it with others who love books as much as I do.

The plan is to read 10 chapters per week; we'll be finished with the book within 4 weeks.  Each Friday I'll post a review of the 10 chapters we read and my analysis/opinions.  In the comments, if you're so inclined, please post any thoughts you had on the chapters, as well as a link to any post you may have written about them.  (I'll seriously look into setting up a Mr. Linky. Has anyone done this before? Is it complicated?)

This week's goal: chapters 1-10.

I hope you're as excited as I am to get started, and I'm so glad you're joining me!  So, without further adieu: ready, set, read!

  1. Ooooh man, I wish I was finished with Anna Karenina right now! Jane Eyre is the next book on my list for my night time book, but I'm not quite ready for it! I do love it though, one of my all time favorites :)

  2. The Jane Eyre 2006 DVD is my favorite adaptation. Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens was spectacular in that version. It would be hard topping that but I'm looking forward to watching the 2011 film nonetheless. :)

  3. I wish I had caught this post earlier because this is definitely a book that I have been meaning to read for such a long time now. I am honestly ashamed to say that I have never read it. I look forward to reading your thoughts on the book. I am hoping to jump into some read alonngs but right now is just not the best time for me. I'm hoping that this will be such a huge success that you host a few more in the future - and then I will definitely join!

  4. Crystal, enjoy Anna Karenina! That one took me a while to get through, but I was so glad when I finished.

Jennifer - I've never read it either! I hope to host more read-alongs in the future as well, and I hope you do get a chance to join! If your schedule lightens up within the next few weeks you can always jump on the Jane Eyre bandwagon!
