Life can be crazy. Good thing we'll always have books.
The issue turns on the facts that she ignored phone calls, letters and an order to appear in court. Sometimes people think that an organization like a library won't do anything to enforce their policies, such as overdue fines. which are a part of the organization's income (out of which they pay employees and replace unreturned books and add to thier collection). The organization has to have a way to collect the money, and in the end they turn the "client/member/patron" over to a collection agency or something similar. Can you imagine what might happen if more people just ignored their bills and didn't pay them. It's a lot like shoplifting; and the rest of have to make up the difference somehow.
If they do, I am in BIG trouble!
