Props to those who can review better than I can

If I was going to write a review on the Twilight movie, this is exactly what I would have said. (Although I might have to add that a sci-fi movie needs a much bigger budget to get the special effects to look somewhat decent - making the vampires look like they're running on cartoon legs is not a good thing.)

Other than that, I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! I'm looking forward to the food and family time, and especially a much-needed break from the day-to-day dreariness. Be safe, and have a good one!

Also, this might be an interesting gift.

  1. Hey, Amy --

Thanks for your comment earlier. It made me feel better because I was so worried about that review. I mean, it's my honest opinion, but I figured there would be some vehement fans who would crucify me in the comments. I mean, I LOVE the Twilight books. Writing the review seemed a little blasphemous. So, it was nice to know someone else agreed with me -- and it just wasn't me.

I totally agree about the cartoon legs, btw. And, I enjoyed your review of Twilight. I loved Charlie as well. I forgot to mention him in my review, but he was definitely a high point. :)

  2. After reading this review I must say I concur. I was both happy and sad with the movie originally, but didn't feel I could properly articulate what I felt was missing. I read the book again just to get a better feel for it and have decided that the aspects I most would have liked to see were Edward's charming side and the intense passion of their relationship.

  3. Michelle, I think a lot of people will agree with you. (And I know what you mean about not wanting to write a bad review - it seems so wrong to write something bad about something you love!) Twilight is such a cultural phenomenon that it would be about impossible to live up to the standards everyone has placed on it. However, I still think it could have been done better.

Sarah, I think I'm ready to take your suggestion and go see it again. Hopefully I'll get that chance tomorrow, and then maybe I'll leave the theater with a better taste in my mouth.

Hope you both had a great Thanksgiving!
