Upset but Thankful

90 people lost their jobs today.

We lost 48 people in the data department and, after this morning, we're down to about 16.

We're outsourcing jobs.

The good news is that I was considered worthy of staying in this core group of people who will be handling the more difficult tasks associated with our department. While I'm thankful that I still have a job, I can't help but be sad and upset when the few friends I've made here are now gone, and I can't help but worry that this is going to be a continuing trend.

Who knows how my job description will change in the next few weeks. Until then, I guess I'll just keep going because I don't know what else to do.

I wonder what it was, exactly, that made them decide to keep me.

  1. You're smart, I expect you've got a good record, I hope you maintain a good attitude at work. They've already trained you to do harder things, and you've learned them. Keep on doing well, keep a smile on your face, anddisplay a positive, can-do attitude.

The whole situtation is truly a shame. I'm sorry it happened and glad that you have a job
