Another great picture book: Mixed Beasts by Wallace Edwards. The verses are short and funny, but the illustrations are even better. One of my personal favorites: the Rhinocerostrich. At the back of the book, Wallace has an index of other mixed beasts, which can be found throughout the main illustrations if the reader is more than a casual observer.
