Today I have a very special post for you. This is a (short) list of my very favorite picture books. These are books that I own or will own as soon as I can justify spending the money (considering I work at a library and don't have any kids, that probably won't be anytime soon). But, without further ado and in no particular order......ta-daaaaaaaaa.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Absolutely the first book I will buy when I have a child. Can you believe this book has been on the Challenged Books list? The illustrations are what make the story - this is my favorite of all of Carle's works.
Where Willy Went by Nicholas Allan
Because it's hilarious, that's why. I wouldn't actually give this to a child, by the way. It's for my own personal enjoyment.
An Undone Fairy Tale by Ian Lendler
It's something different - I love it when books go outside the normal realm and actually include the narrator as a character. Plus, the illustrations get sloppier and sloppier and make the story even funnier.
The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear by Audrey Wood
I LOVE the illustrations, and the mouse's expressions are great. Plus, I like strawberries.
Hooway for Wodney Wat by Helen Lester
Helen Lester is one of my favorite picture book authors. Her stories are hilarious, what can I say? This story is funny and inspiring at the same time. How can you not cheer on the adorable rat with a speech impediment?
Obviously, there are more picture books that I love, but these are my top five. Don't start hounding me because I didn't list Goodnight Moon or There's a Monster at the End of this Book or others of that nature, because I love them, too, but everyone knows about them and maybe not everyone knows about these. But now you do! Go read them!

I LOVE Wodney Wat! I read it for my sister's three girls, who have various speech difficulties, and they all loved it, too. How could you not, though, really?

Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now keep it up!
